KenMoo LIFETIME DEALS Community

Challenge for improving the community experience

CHALLENGE

Context description

KenMoo LTD is a Facebook Group for software lifetime deals. Users may get access to software apps for life and in return, software founders get access to a huge pool of early adopters for feedback and funding.

In order for members to get more value from being a part of the KenMoo LTD Community, Idea Morph launched an open challenge, inviting everyone in the community to generate ideas to improve the overall experience of the KenMoo Community.

“I highly recommend Idea Morph to anyone looking to gather high-quality feedback, whether you’re a team leader, community manager, startup founder or product owner. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed!” - Ken Mo

SUMMARY & RESULTS

Objective of the challenge

The end objective of the challenge was to:

Improve the community experience for new and old users

Get more value for the community

Structure idea generation with a large community of users

Creating engagement around a topic that’s not just fun but also ads value.

In order to reward the involvement of users, our campaign had 20 LTDs as giveaways for the most creative users.

The giveaway was launched on the Facebook LTD community on 19th December 2023, right around Christmas time and sparked much interest among members, resulting in no more than 162 comments.

Results really rocked

When it comes to the results of the challenge itself, since this was the real deal, the community users really rocked:

▪️ 249 ideas were generated from 70 participants

▪️ There was one particular rockstar who generated most of the ideas: 37

▪️ One could say ideas generated are not the most important metric, and truth you speak. But here’s why we call this user a particular rockstar: he was also the most voted user, meaning his ideas got most of the votes. Congrats, Derek Gross, rock on!

Apart from sustainability have a value meter on LTD’s, how valuable and what big problems the software can solve, or is it just gimmicky and tries to solve issues that are not really issues.

Organize special masterclass sessions led by industry experts or accomplished SaaS entrepreneurs. Community members can learn from their experiences, get industry insights, and ask questions directly, creating a valuable learning space. Record sessions ...

Wait, there’s more...

When it comes to the ideas generated, we had one particular exercise that also sparked some really cool ideas: Worst Possible Ideas.

We’re sharing some of them, grab some popcorn and enjoy:

Give everyone Ken Moo's personal cell phone number.

Revealing the name of the person you hate most.

Allowing creators absolute independence to create new events and to create video reviews.

Ken Moo should photograph his breakfast and post it in the group each day.

Giving away less giveaways, less freebies and less content.

Set up a virtual fortune-telling booth where community members can ask about the future success of SaaS products.

Calling all founders searching for the golden idea: A virtual fortune-telling booth that predicts the success of SaaS products. It's your entrepreneurial horoscope, but beware, it might predict a pivot!

TESTIMONIALS

Ken Mo (client)

“I’ve used forms like Typeform before to collect ideas from my community, but people often struggle with blank question fields, not knowing what to enter. What I love about Idea Morph is that it provides an inviting, collaborative interface that encourages people to share ideas; it’s not just a typical form. You can add prompts, previous ideas and inspirations to spark users’ creativity and get them contributing right away.

The quality of ideas submitted through Idea Morph has been exceptional - relevant, unique insights that I hadn’t even considered. I’ve already shortlisted several ideas to try out in my community and I’m really excited about implementing them.

Idea Morph engages users in several stages too, not just a one-time form view. After the initial idea submission, people are asked to vote and share more feedback. It’s an amazing brainstorming tool for getting top-notch, innovative ideas and the best input from your community. I’ve noticed higher participation and completion rates compared to plain forms.”

Derek Gross (challenge winner)

“I was recently invited to do a brainstorming or ideation sprint for a massive facebook group. They were looking for ways to gain higher engagement. I received a link to Idea Morph and did not know what to expect. As I opened Idea Morph I was introduced to a user friendly user face that made ideation a breeze, it had tips and suggestions to prod me on. I ended up with way more ideas than I anticipated.

After a while, all the participants were invited to vote on the best ideas that they thought would help. All of this happened in stages, first the ideation, then the voting and then the winning ideas were brought to the front. How Idea Morph helps is that it not only places a lot of ideas on the table, there is a strategy behind the structure with idea stimulating inputs and it pushes ideas to go farther then what they would have without the software. I am thinking especially for corporate sessions. I would add that I would like the ideas to be more strategic and there were some ideas that made no sense at all. But overall it pushed everyone to focus on ideation and the system helps you get one more idea. www.360brilliant.com

“I love the fact that it doesn’t show all ideas to everyone but shows a select few randomly, thereby limiting favoritism from voters.”

Retinero Linejan Cabilla (challenge winner)

“It was fun! The design makes it more fun also. I need to test it too for a smaller group! For now it’s a new thing to me since it’s very unique.”

PROCESS

The process on how the challenge unfolded step by step is detailed down below, if you’re curious on how Idea Morph helps people become creative and generate some really cool’n’crazy ideas.

The Idea Morph team enjoyed very much seeing all these ideas come to life and we’re thankful to everyone who took their time during holidays to make Ken’s Community a better place. Keep a close eye on the community, some ideas will happen, and, who knows, we might also have a medium we can turn to sneak peek and see the future unicorns.

Until then, stay creative and we’re leaving you to our salt and pepper below:

Idea Morph approach

The challenge started with addressing the issue, where people needed to understand what is the problem, where and why we want to solve it & what is the expected outcome.

The participants were guided through an ideation process, where they used general inspiration packs, provided by the platform, related to the specific query. The pack contained articles, specific social media informational posts, inspirational quotes and lots of other materials added by the project manager.

The next step was defined by generating the ideas themselves and completing some creativity exercises that would stimulate thinking and give inspiration for different perspectives.

In the anonymous voting phase, each participant was given the same chances of voting their favorite ideas. This allowed every member to cast their vote on ideas that were not theirs, so the ones that were the best made it to the top.

Creating a concept based on the ideas that have been generated was the final step of the challenge. The solutions were made by selecting ideas from the top voted ones.
